Mary Street, Hawthorn

Maryemeade, is architecturally significant as a major work from architects Reed, Henderson and Smart; as an influential work in the red brick genre and the "Modern Italian" style. Built in 1885 it is one of the first houses constructed at Grace Park.

It features a magnificent formal garden with many standard citrus and olive trees at the rear and a tranquil garden at the front with weeping elm and a row of silver birches.

The interior of the house is decorated in a grand style with a purpose built 27-seater dining table and formal entertaining area. The majority of furniture is from Grange in Camberwell Road, Camberwell.
