Ross Street Kew

A composition of tall lush green trees, river washed stone, black iron and sandstone, greets you at this amazing house by interior designer Shelly Joyce of Design Fundamentals.

This is not a static designed house, each room feels as though it has been lovingly added to over years. It could overwhelm but somehow doesn't. It is truly impressive! All things shout for individual attention while seeming to dance together beautifully. Look out for the light fittings through the entire house as these seem to grab the eye first in each space and feed the atmosphere of the eclectic, individualistic style.

The entrance and long hallway are highlighted by magnificent crystal chandeliers, tall doorways, an impressive old english hall table and engravings by W. Hodges. The master suite is a calming blend of rich antiques finished off with a dream W.I.R. and ensuite.

A main study is walled by dark wood shelving and luscious brown crushed satin drapes framing large French provincial windows. The clever photo walls make a statement.

The formal dining and lounge rooms embrace with a quirky mix of muted and bold colours and old and new touches wherever you look.

The main living area has an artistically polished concrete floor that complements all within this space. The kitchen is a masterpiece in itself and speaks style and warmth. The television, a main feature in most living rooms, is overshadowed by each different piece of furniture, wall hanging, momento, screening and object d'art. All tease the eye and senses and bring a delighted smile.

The owners' favorite room hidden off the kitchen is a compact study nook that feels like the captain's quarters on one of the tall ships.

The backyard opens out from an alfresco dining area to a grassy landscape looking over the pool. The pool fencing blends beautifully with its fellow garden inhabitants and forms an attachment to the overall beauty of this house. This house truly has something for everyone.
