A Heartfelt Haven for the Modern Family
Berkeley's philosophical musings, "If a tree fell in a forest, would it still make a sound?" evoke the thought: ‘If you did not take part in the 2025 Open House tour of this house, would you truly know what’s missing in your life?’’ This is a home full of warmth, history, and soul, that beckons with timeless beauty.
The Queen Anne-style frontage greets you with a nod to the house’s rich history with its tuckpointed yellow brickwork and bluestone highlights, and geometric leadlight panels. It stands elevated, surrounded by a lush garden. Over the years, two renovations have shaped it into a vibrant family space, blending heritage with modern elements. One renovation was led by the architectural firm Robert Simeoni, the second during the pandemic with Beatrix Rowe. The home's design, inspired by the Queen Anne tradition, integrates gardens and bay windows for a seamless connection with nature.
Inside, art from renowned galleries and architecture including "Peek-a-Boo" design elements, infuse energy into every room. The formal sitting room, billiard room, and private quarters combine elegance with contemporary design. The back of the house, once housed a grand ballroom, a legacy of the original owner, the greengrocer. It now hosts a blend of modern art, with works such as ‘’The Female Pilot’’ by Kathrin Longhurst and ‘’Arizona Desert’’ by Jack Rowland in an enchanting light-filled corridor. This offers perfect framing for these artworks, showcasing them against the vibrant backdrop of the garden.
The kitchen, with its 800mm thick Carrera marble countertop is a gathering hub. It includes a separate butler pantry and appliance area. Dark-stained timber veneer wraps the cabinetry in full height, leading seamlessly to the private study, doors to the billiard room, and the kitchen itself.
Outdoor spaces, including the Eckersley designed garden, a 25-metre swimming pool, a basketball area, gym, sauna, and games retreat offer serenity and recreation.
Designed for an active family, this home, filled with love and laughter, is a sanctuary that continues to inspire.
