Yarra Valley Mid Century Modern

The craftsmanship of three generations of Sibbel family members is celebrated in this tranquil Yarra Valley home.

A delightful example of mid-century modernist design lovingly restored by Fleur Sibbel - Managing Director of Zuster furniture. This house was originally built by her father in 1968, designed by her Grandfather and updated by Peter Cann, who had originally trained as her father’s apprentice! Enjoy the stories of creation and restoration as we journey through this house.

Signature features such as the cedar cladded wall, the signature front door (Fleur added a Zuster handle), the Stramit ceilings and timber beams were kept by Fleur who honours the original features with her sympathetic updates.

In keeping with the mid-century modern architecture, Fleur updated the bathrooms using the Zuster for Reece collaboration – these had previously been renovated. She also updated the floors after being unable to restore the original slate flooring. They really wanted to keep the signature Sibbel kitchen, but updated the internal drawers, added a dishwasher and painted the internal features green.

Our Yarra Valley home offers a wonderful weekend retreat and getaway presenting glamorous, lavish finishes and detail. Playful cocktail names for each bedroom and references to mid-century modern 60s design makes this gorgeous home an entertainer’s dream destination.
